High purity silica amorphous continuous fiber

High silica fiber is the abbreviation of high-purity silica amorphous continuous fiber, with a silica content of 96–98% [1 ], continuous temperature resistance of 1000 degrees Celsius, short-term temperature resistance of 1400 degrees Celsius; its finished products mainly include continuous yarn, ropes, sleeves, mesh, and sewn products. They are mainly used for 1000-degree ultra-high temperature fire insulation. The single fiber diameter is greater than 5 microns, does not contain any asbestos or ceramic wool, and is completely harmless to health.

High-silica fiber can maintain good strength and elasticity for a long time at 1000 degrees Celsius. It is an effective thermal barrier for ultra-high temperature heat flow and jet flames, and a reliable protective device for personnel and facilities. It has low thermal conductivity, good resistance to high thermal shock, is inert to most chemicals, has good corrosion resistance to high-temperature compounds, corrosive minerals, and weakly alkaline molten alloys, and can work normally and continuously under high heat and strong radiation conditions.

In recent years, the demand for high-silica fiber has been increasing. In order to improve the application performance of high-silica products, domestic and foreign companies are conducting research and development to improve the strength and heat resistance of silica glass fiber products. The production of high-silica glass fiber is based on appropriate original glass components and is made into various products such as yarn and cloth according to the production process of ordinary glass fiber. After acid leaching and thermal sintering processes, high-silica products with high-temperature resistance close to that of quartz fiber are obtained. The original glass components mainly include E glass and Si02-B203 - Na2O and Si02 - B203 binary systems . China mainly uses three - component sodium borosilicate glass .

In production, high-silica products are subjected to acid leaching, and the B203 and Na2O components are leached out and transferred into the solution by utilizing the phase separation of the structure , so that the Si02 enrichment reaches a microporous silica skeleton of more than 96%. The micropores are then closed and the skeleton structure becomes compact by high-temperature sintering at 600-800°C to obtain high-performance high-silica glass fiber products.

Performance:

(1) The softening point is close to 1700℃, and it can be used for a long time in an environment of 900℃, and can instantly withstand air flow of thousands of degrees.

(2) Maintains good performance stability in organic and inorganic acids (except hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid and hydrochloric acid) even at high temperatures, as well as in weak alkalis.

(3) It has high stability against thermal shock and ultra-high radiation, excellent insulation performance under high temperature and high humidity conditions, and good bonding performance with high temperature adhesive.

(4) It is resistant to moisture, sunlight radiation and shock, and can be used for various sealing materials . The product has a strong structure and remains soft under many high temperature conditions.

(5) It has stable structure and performance, is harmless to the human body, and can replace ceramic fiber and asbestos fiber (which undergoes crystal phase transformation at high temperature).

(6) It has a high fireproof temperature, does not oxidize or change color when burned in gasoline, has high strength, and will not cause secondary pollution.

(7) It has good wear resistance and insulation properties, and in most cases has a competitive price.

(8) Its skeleton can be properly controlled to make various membranes for liquid filtration, gas separation or as a carrier of catalysts or enzymes.

It is precisely because of so many advantages and characteristics that high-silica glass fiber products have received great attention and extensive research, and have been widely used in many demanding working environments.
